Having worked as a Specialist Registrar during both pre and post Calman time in busy multi-ethnic inner city hospitals, and presently as a consultant I have a wealth of experience to draw upon. I have worked in almost all kinds of environments - from a busy tertiary referral-teaching unit to a socially deprived district general hospital. I am seeking a challenge and I have focussed my expertise in gynaecology, gynae-oncology, colposcopy and minimal access surgery. I worked in busy cancer unit and trained under Mr Patrick Walker and Professor Allan Maclean. I have the expertise to run a ‘One Stop Clinic’ for post menopausal bleeding, menstrual problems with skill of out-patient hysteroscopy (with an added advantage of the skill in gynaecology ultrasound). I was trained in minimal access surgery in a tertiary referral Minimal Access Unit at the Royal Free Hospital. I was a Senior Clinical Research Fellow after my CCT. I gained experience in running professional courses and training sessions. This interest led me to commit an MSc in Advanced Gynaecology Endoscopy at the University of Surrey. I am an accredited colposcopist and trainer. At my present job I have developed guidelines and co-lead the colposcopy unit to improve efficiency and prepared the unit for QA visits. I perform colposcopy in my trust and as well as at St. Georges Hospital, London. I have an Honorary contract at the St. Peter Hospital where I do major open and laparoscopic surgery.
As a Locum consultant at the Leighton Hospital (Mid-Cheshire NHS Trust) I worked closely with the Lead Gynaecologist and Unit Lead for Gynae-Oncology Mr John Felmingham who was also Medical Director for the Trust. My job was to run the unit efficiently and deputize him as he was ill at that time. I gained valuable experience from his expertise and leadership. There I established two week referral pathways and established a "One Stop" Gynae clinic where I ran a gynae scan and outpatient hysteroscopy clinic. I used to run the MDT meeting and liaise with the cancer centre and work closely with radiologist, oncologist and histopathologist.
