Research and Educational Activity
I consider clinical research and audit as an integral part of my practice and I wish to implement this to enhance efficiency in patient care. I have obtained grant for research. I obtained research grant of £30,000.00. A collaborative research project and I was the principal investigator. This research has now been accepted at the BJOG Ref: 2009-OG-6240 and already published on early online view. I have also published a research on reducing theatre waste and optimization of resources. This was a prospective study and published this year June 2009 in the International Journal of Health Planning and Management 2009; 24:225-232.
I gained experience in running professional courses and training sessions. For example I ran MRCOG Part II courses, endoscopy workshops and monthly forum for MAS Teaching. I have also set up a fortnightly journal club at the QEII Hospital. I have been selected as an Educational Supervisor by East of England Deanery for my Trust. I have initiated the first Interview Skill Course for our ST trainees in our Trust. This has now become popular amongst our trainees and trainees from other Trusts. This will now been organised for the 3rd time. I have received the approval from the Royal College (RCOG) and I organised Basic Surgical (Practical) Skills Course 28-28 September 2009. The programme was successful and we received huge positive feedback from the candidates who came from different parts of the country from Falkirk to Hampshire.
